Since I assume you are referring to a situation from our match, you can ask zombie33 or someone else for their opinion to have a neutral judge. For now I'm gonna give a general statement. First, this is an international forum, please use the english language to communicate here. Our tournaments are meant to be fun, they are no sanctioned events and we don't play for any payoff. Still we want them to be competitive, so for example you can't cast a spell and then take it back after you see there is no reaction/counterspell. Sometimes slipups occur and I generally let people take actions back if I think they were an honest mistake and don't influence the game too much. Regarding our situation. I played Mnemonic Wall to get back Capsize and tried to cast it targeting one of your Slivers. Since you had Crystalline Sliver on the board, my action was illegal and therefore I took it back. I did not take back my casting Wall and getting back Capsize since that was my mistake (not beneficial to my now different gameplan). I am no judge but I strongly think that that's exactly how the sitation would have been ruled in a sanctioned event, except I would have gotten a warning. You wanted me to chose a different, legal target but that makes no sense. I tried to target an illegal target which wasn't possible and therefore I had to take it back. Rulewise you don't cast a spell and then choose a target, you choose the target while casting the spell, therefore it's only logical to roll the game back to the situation right before the error occured, which was easily possible. In our tournaments you can always ask for a ruling from a player different from the one you are playing against, and you should do that. Please zombie33, Toufmade or someone else respond to this topic as well. The next time I would still encourage you to also talk to me instead of ignoring my messages and just leave. If you hadn't conceded so fast, I would have absolutely let you block my lethal attack. We all want to have a nice time playing Peasant since that's the spirit of the format. I will never try to cheat anybody to get a win, I often let players get away with more than I would need to. I hope I cleared things up for the future and you don't feel frustrated. You will get responses from neutral players as well about this. |

I agree on the ruling if that's what happened. Even though I'm not a judge, I'm pretty sure correcting an illegal play is just to take it back as long as it's possible (sometimes you figure it out too late and can't just rewind the game). As for the "I made a mistake, can I take it back" matter, this may be off topic, but I think everyone is free to answer no. I am myself a bit harsh on this, I consider it's too late when you have paid the costs, revealed the card, chosen the targets, and you've had any kind of reaction from your opponent (except for playing a land in general). |

I agree with the rulling given by Galactic (about Wall + Capsize). But I won't give any advice/rulling if spectators aren't allowed, because I can't understand the situation with just some Words (Maybe I can, but I won't). And I encourage, Manu (Who is vert good in rulling), Zombie du 33, and Galactic to do The same. |

601.2e The game checks to see if the proposed spell can legally be cast. If the proposed spell is illegal, the game returns to the moment before the casting of that spell was proposed (see rule 720, â??Handling Illegal Actionsâ?). 720.1 If a player takes an illegal action or starts to take an action but canâ??t legally complete it, the entire action is reversed and any payments already made are canceled. No abilities trigger and no effects apply as a result of an undone action. If the action was casting a spell, the spell returns to the zone it came from. The player may also reverse any legal mana abilities activated while making the illegal play, unless mana from them or from any triggered mana abilities they triggered was spent on another mana ability that wasnâ??t reversed. Players may not reverse actions that moved cards to a library, moved cards from a library to any zone other than the stack, caused a library to be shuffled, or caused cards from a library to be revealed. 720.2 When reversing illegal spells and abilities, the player who had priority retains it and may take another action or pass. The player may redo the reversed action in a legal way or take any other action allowed by the rules. |

I answer in french : quand il lance le sort il doit donner sa cible . Il cite une cible illégale donc reprend sa carte en main et en compétitif prend un avertissement du juge. |
